Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Spatial and Single Cell Bone Cancer Proteomics

Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences (NDORMS) Grade 7: Salary in the range of £39,424 – £47,779 per annum. This is inclusive of a pensionable Oxford University Weighting of £1,730 per year. This is a full time, fixed term position for 12 months.

About the Role

In this role you will provide and implement bespoke experimental assays for studies across bone cancers, working with other team members, and contributing to the overall planning of studies. You will develop research questions within the field of spatial proteomics, conduct individual research, analysing detailed and complex qualitative and/or quantitative data from a variety of sources, reviewing and refining working hypotheses as appropriate. The postholder will contribute ideas for new research projects and to the research group's plans, including developing ideas for generating research income, writing of project-funding applications for new research projects.

About You

You will hold, or be close to completion of, a PhD/DPhil in Chemistry, Biology or related fields, together with extensive experience in mass spectrometry-based proteomics (Thermo and Bruker platforms). You will have expert knowledge in the design of proteomics experiments and in the analysis of proteomic data, as well as experience in spatial proteomics (laser capture), single cell proteomics and MALDI Imaging. Previous research experience in the genetics of human disease is desirable.
