Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Based within Professor Gabrielle Belz's internationally recognised research group at the Frazer Institute, this exciting Postdoctoral Research Fellow opportunity will see you investigate how transcriptional and pathways regulate innate immune cell function during health and disease.

Working within a collaborative, high-performing and purpose-driven team, you will play a leading role in designing and delivering innovative research that advances our understanding of immune homeostasis and pathogen responses, while contributing to discoveries with the potential to shape future therapeutic approaches.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Research: Lead and deliver innovative research projects investigating the metabolic regulation of innate immune cells, including the design, execution and interpretation of complex experimental studies. Contribute to competitive research funding applications, publish high-quality research outputs, collaborate across multidisciplinary projects, and apply best-practice research methodologies to generate impactful discoveries.
• Supervision and Researcher Development: Contribute to the supervision and development of Honours and Higher Degree by Research students, provide mentoring and performance feedback, support researcher development, and assist in the effective management of research support staff where required.
• Citizenship and Service: Demonstrate leadership through collaboration and active participation in research group and Institute activities, contribute to internal committees and administrative processes, support colleagues, and build partnerships with industry, government and the broader research community.
• Laboratory Operations and Safety: Support the safe and efficient operation of laboratory equipment, infrastructure and research protocols, maintain compliance with relevant safety procedures, and contribute to the day-to-day organisation and administration of research activities within the Belz Research Group

About You:

• Completion or near completion of a PhD in immunology, molecular biology, bioinformatics, immune metabolomics, or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated research expertise in immunology, infection biology, immune homeostasis, or a related field, with an emerging track record of impactful research outcomes.
• Hands-on experience with advanced laboratory techniques, including flow cytometry, PCR, ELISA, tissue culture, microbiology, and laboratory animal handling.
• Evidence of research productivity through publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals and presentations at scientific conferences.
• Experience contributing to competitive research funding applications, with the ability to support the development of collaborative research initiatives.
• Strong interpersonal, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work independently, collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team, and quickly acquire new research techniques.
