Postdoctoral Researcher

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher in the field of neonatal eye and brain development. The successful candidate will join a project exploring developmental trajectories of infants diagnosed with retinopathy of prematurity. The research involves recording vital signs and conducting electroencephalography (EEG) and electroretinography (ERG) in preterm infants. Working with Dr Caroline Hartley and Dr Kanmin Xue, the successful candidate will join a multi-disciplinary team of researchers.

You will be working in a growing department within the Medical Sciences Division. The Department of Paediatrics is a world leader in child health research and hosts internationally renowned research programmes in drug development, gastroenterology, haematology, HIV, immunology, neuroimaging, neuromuscular diseases and vaccinology.

This position is offered full-time on a fixed-term contract initially until 22nd January 2027, with the possibility to extend provided further external funding is available. Part-time applications may be considered (with a minimum of 20 weekly hours).

About you: You will hold, or be close to completion of, a PhD/DPhil in a relevant discipline and who have experience in managing their own research activities. Ideally, you will have previous experience in recruitment for neonatal research studies and the ability to conduct EEG recordings. Previous experience in data analysis of EEG in neonates is also desirable.
