We are offering an exciting and unique opportunity for a Postdoctoral Researcher to work at the interface of academia and industry, collaborating with leaders in innate and adaptive immunity, tissue homeostasis, and immune tolerance. Funded by AbbVie Immunology and hosted within Oxford research laboratories at the John Radcliffe Hospital, this project will investigate critical interactions between fibroblasts and neutrophils that drive immune-mediated inflammatory diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and hidradenitis suppurativa (HS).
The postholder will lead on this defined component of a strategically important Oxford–AbbVie collaborative programme, embedded within a larger team of 4 Postdocs. The role combines scientific independence with structured partnership working, requiring the ability to design and drive hypothesis-led research within an integrated, team-based environment.
Postholders will deliver rigorous and innovative experimental research, contribute intellectually to programme development, and ensure outputs are robust, reproducible, and positioned to inform translational and therapeutic advancement. The position requires strong wet lab and organisational skills, sound scientific judgement, and the confidence to engage effectively with both academic and industry partners.
In addition to advanced laboratory training, fellows will benefit from close mentorship by AbbVie scientists based in Oxford and the United States.
This position is offered full-time on a fixed-term contract until 02/02/2029 with the potential for extension.
