The postholder will join the Cader Lab at the Kavli Institute for Nanoscience Discovery, University of Oxford, to lead experimental work for one of the key workpackages of the EU Innovation Council SECURE project, a major multi-partner programme developing self adaptive gene therapies for neurological disease.
This will involve (1) producing a single nuclei atlas of the substantia nigra and (2) developing and applying advanced human iPSC-derived blood–brain barrier (BBB) models to evaluate next-generation CNS-targeted viral vectors. The successful candidate will use models to assess vector transcytosis and tropism in both healthy and disease contexts. The work will generate human-relevant data on BBB permeability, receptor expression and transcriptomic signatures that will directly inform AI-driven viral vector design within the SECURE consortium.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a motivated postdoctoral scientist to contribute to a transformative gene therapy platform and to work at the interface of stem-cell biology, neurovascular physiology and translational therapeutics. The postholder will benefit from the Cader Lab's extensive expertise in iPSC modelling, neurovascular systems, and multi-omics profiling, and will collaborate closely with academic and industrial partners across Europe.
The post is full time for a fixed term until 30th January 2029 in the first instance. Only applications received before 12.00 midday on Friday 26th June will be considered. Interviews will be held as soon as possible thereafter.
