You will join a multidisciplinary research environment focused on understanding the heterogeneity and complexity of aging and neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease. This research position has a strong focus on advanced imaging techniques in combination with multi-omics approaches, including spatial transcriptomics and proteomics. Independent work is combined with collaborations within and outside the research group. Own ideas and initiatives are encouraged.
We are seeking a postdoctoral scientist with strong expertise in radiology, neuroscience, and programming to contribute to the research activities of Giuseppe Barisano's group. The position focuses on integrating radiographic, histopathology, clinical, and multi-omics data, including spatial transcriptomics and proteomics, to investigate vascular contributions to cognitive impairment and dementia.
The successful candidate will combine independent research with close collaboration across a multidisciplinary team. Key responsibilities include developing and applying reproducible computational pipelines for imaging and omics data, supporting data processing and statistical analyses, contributing to scientific publications and grant applications, and gradually initiating independent research projects. The role also involves maintaining and advancing the group's computational infrastructure, including data management systems, analysis workflows, Linux/HPC environments, and reproducible computing setups to support large-scale data analyses.
To be eligible for employment as a postdoctoral researcher, a PhD or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a Swedish PhD is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. Completion of your doctoral degree within the last three years is considered an advantage. If there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.
The person we are looking for is a highly motivated researcher with strong quantitative, computational, and programming skills, a solid background in radiology, computational biology or bioinformatics, and a demonstrated research interest in vascular contributions to cognitive impairment and dementia. We are looking for a collaborative and communicative researcher who enjoys working in a team-oriented environment, this is very important as the role involves being part of a group.
