We are seeking a motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our international team working on monitoring animal health and welfare.
The position is for two years and will commence December 1, 2026, or soon thereafter. The position is within the research section Management and Modelling.
The research section Management and Modelling develop methods and tools for herd management to promote animal welfare, green transition, and economic viability. Further, the section integrates, develops, and disseminates knowledge of farm animal management and relationships between actors and animals. Researchers in the section teach BSc, MSc and PhD in animal and veterinary science educations and conduct research-based public advice for national and international authorities on animal welfare and health.
The research section is a dynamic multidisciplinary research group including animal scientists, veterinarians, economists, statisticians, and anthropologists.
The position
We seek a post doc to evaluate data and monitoring tools for assessing animal health and welfare in all major livestock production systems (cattle, pig and poultry). The post doc will contribute to identification of animal-based indicators for pig welfare to be used in pig welfare inspection. The post doc will also contribute to the development of training materials in targeting pig welfare inspectors in EU member states.

Shortlisting is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the appointment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. All applicants will be notified whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee, and each applicant is given the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that concerns him/her self.
