Join a forward-thinking research team at Department of Chemical Engineering, the University of Alberta dedicated to uncovering the fundamental physics governing reacting multiphase flows. This position offers a unique opportunity to lead a high-impact project focused on the dynamics of reacting droplets, exploring the complex coupling between fluid mechanics, interfacial mass transfer, and chemical kinetics. As a Postdoctoral Fellow, you will tackle the multi-scale challenges inherent in clean energy systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and conduct research on the dynamics of reacting droplets, focusing on interfacial transport phenomena.
• Develop and implement advanced experimental methods to characterize droplet-scale interactions and chemical kinetic coupling.
• Analyze complex datasets to extract physical insights and validate results against theoretical benchmarks or high-fidelity experimental data.
• Prepare high-impact manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals and present findings at major conferences.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to graduate and undergraduate students while fostering a collaborative, inclusive research environment.
• Maintain rigorous documentation of methodologies, manage project timelines, and assist in the drafting of future research grant proposals.

Qualifications

• PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related field.
• Hands-on experience with advanced optical diagnostics such as Particle Image Velocimetry.
• Experience with high-speed imaging and droplet manipulation.
• Experience in mentoring undergraduate and graduate students in a laboratory setting.
