The Department of Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology (MTC) at Karolinska Institutet conducts research and teaching within immunology, infection biology, cell biology and cancer. Our key words are multidisciplinary, bridging, national and international collaborations.
We are looking for a Postdoc to join Dr. Amir Ata Saei's group. This multidisciplinary team has a solid background in using proteomics and bioinformatics to study disease. The specific postdoctoral project involves the application of proteomics and biochemistry tools to dissect the molecular targets and mechanisms of selected microbiome-derived metabolites within the gut brain axis. If you are interested in making original mechanistic discoveries, this position is for you.
The division is a leading hub for cutting-edge research on cancer and metabolic disease. The division's research is driven by a team of distinguished scientists, each contributing unique expertise and innovative approaches to the field.
The project will leverage state-of-the-art proteomics, chemical biology, and biochemical approaches to identify direct protein targets of microbiome-derived metabolites and define their mechanisms in neurodegeneration. The applicant will perform proteomics experiments to identify candidate target proteins and conduct follow-up experiments in relevant in vitro and in vivo models to validate findings. The applicant is expected to set up novel experimental approaches within the research group and to actively participate in other lab projects, collaborate, contribute to manuscript and grant writing, and present results to general and specialized audiences.
We are looking for an applicant with the profile below (requirements):
