BeiGene, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated, experienced process chemist to join our R&D team in Beijing. The individual will be an integral part of the company's effort to develop life-saving therapeutics for oncology and other serious diseases.

The successful candidate will independently design and implement innovative chemical syntheses and processes to support our pre-clinical and maturing portfolio. In this role, the scientist will interface with multiple functional areas, including medicinal chemistry, formulation, toxicology, in-vivo pharmacology, etc. and will drive and oversee tech transfer of developed processes to suitable CMOs.

Responsibilities and essential functions of the job:

• Plan and implement identification and development of phase-appropriate chemical syntheses and processes to support programs reaching from preclinical to commercial stage
• Interface with management on priorities to drive the discovery, development and implementation of safe and cost-effective synthetic routes
• Build, train and supervise emerging team of in-house process chemistry scientists
• Work cross-functionally within the organization to enable timelines and help meet deliverables
• Steward tech transfer of processes to CMOs and oversee/monitor implementation

Qualifications:

• M.Sc. Synthetic Organic Chemistry
• Min. 2-3 years of experience in process chemistry
• U.S. or European pharma experience preferred
• Familiarity with modern homogeneous and asymmetric catalysis in organic chemistry
• Basic working knowledge of cGMP requirements and ICH regulatory guidelines
• Experience working with CMOs is a plus
• Chinese language skills desired
