Project Manager (Technical)

The Project Manager (Technical) oversees the planning, execution, and successful delivery of cross-functional technical projects supporting strategic and operational initiatives across the healthcare system. This position partners with IT teams, clinical informatics, business analysts, operational leaders, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget while meeting quality and compliance standards.

The Project Manager (Technical) manages technical projects from planning through implementation and post-project evaluation. The role translates business needs into technical solutions, coordinates cross-functional resources and stakeholders, manages project scope, schedules and budgets, and supports successful system implementations.

The position plays a key role in driving performance, compliance, quality, and innovation within a dynamic healthcare environment.

Manages Full Technical Project Lifecycle

• Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
• Develop and maintain detailed technical project plans and schedules.
• Track project progress and adjust plans as needed.
• Facilitate project meetings and provide status updates.
• Close projects with appropriate documentation and lessons learned.

Stakeholder Engagement and Communication

• Work closely with clinical, administrative, and IT stakeholders.
• Align technical project goals with organizational priorities.
• Manage stakeholder expectations and communications.
• Resolve conflicts and escalate issues appropriately.
• Ensure effective collaboration across departments.

Oversees Technical Implementation

• Coordinate system configuration, integration, and testing activities.
• Partner with vendors and internal teams on technical deliverables.
• Ensure compliance with cybersecurity and data governance standards.
• Support go-live activities and post-implementation support.
• Troubleshoot technical issues during deployment.

Monitors Budget and Resource Allocation

• Develop and manage project budgets.

• Identify and mitigate resource constraints.
• Prepare financial and resource utilization reports.

Ensures Compliance and Quality Standards

• Adhere to HIPAA, HITECH, and internal compliance policies.

• Support internal and external audits.
• Integrate quality improvement into project planning.

Organizational Improvement

• Participate in process improvement initiatives.
• Mentor junior technical project staff and share best practices.
• Participate in project portfolio reviews.

• Lead or contribute to training sessions.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of three years of experience managing technical projects in a healthcare or enterprise IT environment.

Relevant education or experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Health Informatics, Project Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of five years of experience in healthcare IT project management.
• Experience with EHR systems, cloud platforms, or enterprise applications.
• Familiarity with Agile, SAFe, or hybrid project methodologies.

Licenses/Registrations/Certifications

Required

Preferred

• Project Management Professional (PMP) – PMI.
• Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or SAFe Agilist.
• ITIL Foundation Certification.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher.
