Quigley Lab – Assistant/Associate Specialist UCSF School of Medicine – Urology The Quigley lab in the UCSF Department of Urology studies advanced prostate cancer, a lethal disease with no cure. We seek candidates for an Assistant or Associate Specialist position in the lab. Specialists are academic appointees engaged in specialized research, professional activity, and University and/or public service. The candidate will lead a project that defines the molecular mechanisms of lineage plasticity induced by therapy resistance in prostate tumors.
Required Qualifications: • Specialists appointed at the Assistant rank require a Master's degree or a Baccalaureate degree with three or more years of research experience. Specialists appointed at the Associate rank require a Master's degree or five to ten years of experience in the relevant specialization. • Experience with standard cell and molecular biology protocols and flow cytometry • Experience manipulating cell genomes and gene activity using CRISPR/Cas9 and/or plasmid constructs • Knowledge of fundamentals of cancer genetics and epigenetics • Ability to work without direct supervision after initial training • Strong verbal and presentation skills
Preferred Qualifications • Experience with CRISPR-based screening approaches (library design, viral libraries, validating hits) • Experience with single cell transcriptomic or multi-omic methods • Experience with epigenetic assays (e.g. ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq, Cut and Run) • Experience with patient-derived xenograft and/or organoid culture methods

Appointees in the Specialist series will be expected to engage in specialized research, professional activities and do not have teaching responsibilities. Specialists are expected to use their professional expertise to make scientific and scholarly contributions and may participate in University and Public Service. Screening of applicants will begin immediately and will continue as needed throughout the recruitment period. Salary and rank will be commensurate with the applicants experience and training.
