Applications are invited for a Research Assistant to work with Dr Hannah Forde on her Wellcome Trust Early Career Award fellowship in the Sustainable Healthy Food Group. Dr Forde's research explores the development of and public support for healthy and planet-friendly food marketing policies. Some of these policies have been developed globally, but to date, not in the UK. The fellowship will involve working with stakeholders and drawing on various qualitative and quantitative methods to explore the design, impact, and public support for equivalent healthy and planet-friendly food marketing policies in the UK.
The successful applicant will undertake research using qualitative and quantitative methods to assess the current levels of advertising for foods that have a high climate impact. They will also use qualitative methods to understand policy processes that have supported or hindered the development of climate-friendly advertising policies globally. Responsibilities will include: managing your own research and administrative activities, gathering and analysing data from various sources, and contributing to research publications and reviews.
You will hold a relevant master's degree (or be close to completion, or have equivalent work experience), have strong quantitative skills (including experience of using statistical software), and demonstrable knowledge in nutrition, psychology, public health, epidemiology, environmental sciences or behavioural sciences to work within established research programmes.
You will be based in the Gibson building, Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, Radcliffe Primary Care Building, Woodstock Road, Oxford, OX2 6GG as your normal place of work. You will be able to agree a pattern of regular remote working with your line manager.
The position is funded by the Wellcome Trust for two years in the first instance. It is offered full time, although part-time with a minimum of 0.5FTE will be considered.
