Research Assistant

We are a Research Assistant to join a research project funded by Aligning Science Across Parkinson's (ASAP); there may also be the opportunity to undertake a part-time PhD.

This position is ideal for an enthusiastic researcher who is keen to contribute to an exciting multicentre project investigating alpha-synuclein filament structure across a range of neurodegenerative diseases and the biological basis of disease heterogeneity. The project will involve the development and application of cell-culture models, cell-seeding approaches, and biochemical assays, as well as supporting the day-to-day delivery and coordination of the project.

The post is available immediately and funded by ASAP to 31 May 2029 in the first instance.

You will have a BSc (or equivalent) in neuroscience or a related topic, a background in basic research involving human-derived cell culture work, and previous experience of working in a laboratory using human postmortem brain samples. Strong problem solving, numeracy, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to work to strict objectives and balance competing priorities under the pressure of deadlines and workload.

Starting salary offered in the range £39,807 – £42,891 per annum inclusive of London Allowance.
