Research Assistant to the Department of Global Public Health

The Department of Global Public Health is a multidisciplinary department with the aim to advance knowledge about challenges and opportunities for public health in a local, national, and global setting. Many researchers at the department are scientific advisors to authorities and other decision makers at regional, national, and international levels. The department is responsible for three international master's programs and the researchers are actively involved in teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level. The department has 12 research groups, around 120 PhD students and about 140 employees. The position is based in the research group IMPAQT (Implementation and Quality). The aim of the IMPAQT group is to generate knowledge on how to develop, implement, and evaluate strategies to improve quality of care globally.

Your Mission

The research assistant will support the preparation of research grant applications by assisting with the drafting of research proposals and conducting background research in the areas of health care systems, vaccination, and maternal and perinatal health. The work involves conducting literature reviews, compiling relevant data, and assisting with the writing and editing of sections of grant applications. The role contributes to the development of high-quality grant applications that advance research on global health challenges and interventions. In addition, the research assistant will contribute to the overall implementation of the project (as needed). This is a 12-month fixed-term position with a 100% workload.

Your Profile

You must have:

• A master's degree in global health or a related field.
• Documented experience in global health research, particularly in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), in areas such as health care systems, infectious diseases, maternal and child health, or public health.
• Documented experience contributing to competitive research grant proposals, particularly within programs such as EU Horizon, the Swedish Research Council, Forte, or Vinnova.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Swedish and English.

Desirable:

• Strong skills in literature reviews and evidence synthesis, including experience with databases (e.g., PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science) and systematic review tools such as Covidence.
• Scientific publications in global public health or a related research field, as well as knowledge of research ethics and research governance, including experience with ethics applications, informed consent, and regulatory processes.
• Experience with qualitative and/or quantitative data collection and analysis, including strong proficiency in relevant software (e.g., NVivo, SPSS, Stata, or Excel).
