Research Associate – Electrochemistry

This Research Associate position will play a key role in the design, execution, and communication of research projects related to electrochemical decarbonization technologies and self-driving labs. The position is within the Department of Chemistry at the Point Grey Campus of the University of British Columbia. This is a non-tenure track position.

Duties:

• Lead development of project proposals and project tracking documents related to thin-film materials, electrochemical reactors for carbon utilization and storage, and self-driving lab research and development;
• Direct experiment planning and contribute to experiment execution related to thin-film materials, electrochemical reactors for carbon utilization and storage, and self-driving lab research and development;
• Contribute to management of a multidisciplinary research team;
• Mentor students and colleagues;
• Ensure team members follow policies and procedures;
• Liaise with external collaborators as needed;
• Oversee sourcing and purchasing of necessary equipment and supplies and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• PhD in chemistry;
• Bachelor's degree in computer science;
• 6+ years of experience with self-driving labs, electrochemical reactors, and thin-film materials;
• Strong publication record, particularly in fields of thin-film materials, electrochemical reactors, and self-driving labs.
• Experience with Python, C/C++, UI/UX;
• Effective verbal, visual, and written science communication skills;
• Experience in mentoring team/other researchers.
