Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 2 years, or until the grant end date on 13 October 2028, whichever is earliest.
Applications are invited for a post-doctoral research associate to join the groups of Prof Akshay Rao (Physics Department) and Dr Jenny Zhang (Chemistry Department) at the University of Cambridge, working in close collaboration with Prof Gregory at the University of Princeton. The candidate will be based in Cambridge, UK, but will be expected to spend significant amount of time in Princeton, US.
The overarching aim of the post-doctoral position is to apply or develop cutting-edge ultrafast spectroscopic techniques to biological photosynthetic samples (from isolated proteins to living cells) and uncover mechanisms of energy and electron distribution under various conditions.
The successful applicant will be expected to independently develop ultrafast spectroscopic techniques to study photosynthetic systems, to work well in a highly dynamic, interdisciplinary and collaborative environments; embracing new scientific challenges; bridge the science between multiple labs, and provide mentorship to junior students.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in ultrafast spectroscopy, with experience in working with photosynthetic proteins/microorganisms or (bio)electrochemistry which is highly desirable. A strong track record of being able to work both as part of a team, and independently, coupled with excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills will also be highly favoured.
