The Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine) trains doctors who put patients at the centre of their exemplary care. The School, which offers both undergraduate and graduate programmes, is named after local philanthropist Tan Sri Dato Lee Kong Chian. Established in 2010 by Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, in partnership with Imperial College London, LKCMedicine aims to be a model for innovative medical education and a centre for transformative research. The School's primary clinical partner is the National Healthcare Group, a leader in public healthcare recognised for the quality of its medical expertise, facilities and teaching. The School is transitioning to an NTU medical school ahead of the 2028 successful conclusion of the NTU-Imperial partnership to set up a Joint Medical School. In August 2024, we welcomed our first intake of the NTU MBBS programme, that has been recently enhanced to include themes like precision medicine and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in healthcare, with an expanded scope in the medical humanities. Graduates from the five-year undergraduate medical degree programme will have a strong understanding of the scientific basis of medicine, with an emphasis on technology, data science and the humanities.
The Research Institute for Cancer Prevention, Screening and Early Detection has recently been established at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. It aims to be a leading Asian institution in clinical translational research and education for cancer prevention and early detection. The initial areas of research focus relate to precision cancer prevention including the development and validation of risk prediction models; and clinical implementation research of targeted screening and behavioural interventions to increase cancer screening relevant to an individual's cancer risk profile. The Institute works closely with Primary Care and Family Medicine at LKC Medicine, given the Institute's focus on the role of primary care in cancer prevention and detection.
We are looking for a Research Associate/Research Fellow with a background and strong interest in cancer screening and detection within primary care settings. The successful candidate will contribute to an interdisciplinary project developing and evaluating targeted screening methods for common cancers among at-risk individuals. The role will involve generating and supporting clinical and population-based research activities, including research plan generation, study implementation, data collection and analysis, ethics applications, and stakeholder engagement. Working closely with clinicians, behavioural scientists, patient partners, and industry collaborators, the candidate will contribute to research that informs the delivery of effective and equitable cancer screening and detection programmes.
