You likely recently completed a practical research-oriented Master's thesis project and are keen to further explore the world of research before your next major career milestone. In this fixed-term position, you will perform full-time laboratory research across a number of projects aiming at the discovery and characterisation of carbohydrate-active enzymes. Our projects relate to biorefinery technologies, industrial waste remediation, fundamental biochemical insight, and biomaterials design. Specifically, you will engage in gene cloning, recombinant protein production and purification, and enzyme activity assays, in order to support PhD students and senior scientists on our team. We have identified a large number of candidate enzyme genes we wish to explore, and you will help us achieve this in a timely manner. At the same time as performing experiments, you will have responsibility for writing regular short data reports, managing inventory in the lab, and handling safe waste disposal for the group.
