Research Engineer In Python Development And Visualization

We are seeking a research engineer to develop ImpactTwin, an interactive digital twin dashboard for climate resilience. The work focuses on Python implementation and visualization of infrastructure disruptions and potential interventions.

You will integrate geospatial data and model outputs, develop interactive maps and charts for comparing scenarios, and test and document the prototype. You will work with Golnaz Taheri, Zahra Kalantari, and the research team.

Qualifications

Requirements

• A master's degree in computer science, data science, engineering or a related field, or an equivalent foreign qualification.
• Strong practical Python programming skills and experience in data processing.
• Experience in data visualization, such as charts, maps or interactive interfaces.
• Ability to write clear code and to test and document software.
• Ability to collaborate effectively and work independently.
• Good English communication skills for collaboration and documentation in an international research environment.
• Awareness of diversity and equal opportunity issues, with a particular focus on gender equality.

Preferred qualifications

• Development of interactive visualizations and web interfaces, for example using Plotly, Dash or Streamlit.
• Geospatial data and GIS, for example GeoPandas or Folium.
• Network and graph analysis, simulation and machine learning.
• Version control and collaboration using Git.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal skills.
