Research Engineering/Scientist Assistant

The Department of Pediatrics at the Dell Medical School is looking for a Research Engineering/Scientist Assistant. Employment is based on continuation of grant funding.

This is a lab staff position to support the Ekker program and to further develop our gene editing research efforts.

Responsibilities include:

• Collaboration and communication with other members of the research team, actively participating in lab meetings and discussions. Presenting research progress and findings in regular lab meetings and potentially at scientific conferences.
• Accurately recording experimental data and assisting in data analysis using various software tools and statistical methods. Collaborating with other Ekker lab researchers including students to interpret and present findings effectively.
• Ensuring proper maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment and instruments and assisting with inventory management of laboratory supplies.
• Performing a range of experimental molecular, gene editing and genomics techniques and procedures related to mitochondrial biology and metabolism. This includes but is not limited to tissue sample preparation, cell culture, molecular biology assays, and microscopy. Supporting the maintenance of zebrafish strains.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in a scientific, engineering or technical field or a graduate of the ACC biotechnology program Associate of Applied Science Degree. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred qualifications include prior experience with cell culture especially iPSCs or ES cells.

Salary range is $35,000+ depending on qualifications.

Working conditions may include working around standard office conditions and repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.
