Research Fellow in Reactor Design, Operation and Monitoring

The successful candidate will conduct experimental and theoretical/computational research for the Sustainable Open-loop Large-scale Inter-seasonal Thermochemical Heat Storage (SOLIS) project. The research will implement reactor design (up to pilot scale) with heat integration, and multiphase flow analysis. The post holder will lead the design and construction of a pilot scale reactor, collaborate with other researchers within the SOLIS project and International Partners, to extend the impact of the research to other problems related to sustainable development.

This is a fixed term role until from 1st January 2027 to 30th of September 2029 in the first instance. Salary is £46,261-£48,679 per annum inclusive of London allowance. This appointment is subject to UCL Terms and Conditions of Service for Research and Professional Services Staff.

The successful candidate will hold a PhD in chemical or mechanical engineering, materials science, physical sciences or related. The post holder will have experience in reactor design & construction, P&ID, experimentation and analysis, as well as experience in either fluidization, powder technologies and reaction engineering. Hands on experience on reactor assembling and risk assessment is essential.
