University College London (UCL) wishes to appoint a Research Fellow. The post holder will be based at The Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction at the Bartlett Faculty of the Built Environment, a world-leading faculty ranked #1 in the world for Built Environment studies and #1 in the UK for its research environment. The post holder will carry out research and programme administration within the Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction, consistent with the vision and mission of The School. This is a full-time role on a 1 year fixed-term contract, with an opportunity for extension subject to funding.
The successful applicant will be expected to have a strong understanding of building design and construction processes, building physics, and sustainability assessment methods (including Life Cycle Assessment – LCA). They should have demonstrable experience in developing or applying innovative models, techniques, or methods (e.g. AI, digital twins, BIM) as well as experience in analysing, interpreting, and disseminating research findings through reports and academic outputs. The appointee is required to have First degree and normally a PhD (or near completion) in a relevant discipline (e.g. AI for construction, architecture, building engineering, civil engineering, generative AI), with a focus on sustainable construction and/or AI-driven building design The appointee will have high level analytical capability and ability to apply appropriate models, techniques, and methods, ability to communicate complex information clearly to a range of audiences. Also, proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of multidisciplinary research teams, strong organisational skills, including the ability to plan and coordinate work, manage priorities, and use resources Your application will be assessed based on how well the criteria set out in the person specification are met using examples to demonstrate this.
