Research Fellow (Statistical Methodologist)

Join one of the country's leading Clinical Trials Units. The UCL Institute of Clinical Trials and Methodology brings together five expert research units: UCL Innovative Clinical Trials Unit (InCTU, formerly MRC Clinical Trials Unit at UCL), the Comprehensive Clinical Trials Unit at UCL, Cancer Research UK/UCL Cancer Trials Centre, the PRIMENT CTU and the MRC Centre of Research Excellence in Clinical Trial Innovation in partnership with NIHR (MRC CoRE). The Institute is home to one of the UK's largest Statistical Methodology groups, whose key area of focus is to deliver innovative trial methodology to improve outcomes for patients. Within the Institute two research units are seeking to recruit:

i) The UCL Innovative Clinical Trials Unit leads research addressing internationally important questions, primarily in infectious diseases, cancer and neurodegenerative diseases. The Statistical Analysis research theme focusses on addressing important challenges in the analysis of randomised trials, including developing and evaluating novel methods for handling missing data, addressing treatment deviations through causal inference, specifying estimands, and identifying best-practice approaches for methodological development.

ii) The Medical Research Council Centre of Research Excellence in Clinical Trials Innovation in partnership with NIHR (MRC CoRE) is a newly established centre of excellence for clinical trials. The MRC CoRE brings together a nationwide consortium, led by Professor Mahesh Parmar (UCL) and Co-Leads from Universities of Cambridge, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Newcastle and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

Applicants should have a post-graduate qualification in medical statistics or a related discipline, coupled with a thorough understanding and experience of using statistical methods for design and/ or analysis in medical research. They must have the ability to write programs independently using one or more statistics packages (Stata or R). They should be able to take initiative, prioritise and organise their own workloads.
