We are looking for a motivated Research Software Engineer to support the data management activities of the Data Analytics Platform at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research (CBMR).
The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research (CBMR) was established in 2010 to conduct fundamental research on metabolism. The Center has around 260 employees, consisting of 21 research groups and 5 technology platforms, who work in a vibrant international research environment with a focus on interdisciplinary collaboration. Our researchers share a common purpose as they seek to transform the basic understanding of the mechanisms involved in metabolic health and disease, and to accelerate this knowledge toward new prevention and treatment strategies. The Center's research has resulted in seminal discoveries as to how genes, hormones, and environmental factors influence metabolic health and disease throughout life.
The Data Analytics Platform sits at the heart of CBMR and consists of nine full-time employees. The Platform supports researchers by providing expertise and support for data management, processing and visualisation. In total, we integrate data from more than a million biological samples. We carry information on genetic variation, anthropometrics, biochemical measurements, and other omics data. The Data Analytics Platform operates an on-prem high-performance compute cluster, has a leading role in the center's commercial cloud activities and facilitates access to several external research compute resources.
Your job
Your main task will be supporting our scientists with research data management during various stages of a project. That includes provisioning resources for compute and storage, supporting user and access management, gathering and curating data from various origins, enabling the use of external compute facilities and data repositories, as well as making information findable and available to researchers. Governance of the data needs to adhere to best practices for sensitive records. You will work closely with bioinformaticians and researchers at multiple levels.
