Research Specialist in Integrative Metabolism

We are looking for a research specialist that would like to be part of a project headed by Professor Juleen R. Zierath and Professor Anna Krook, aimed at identification and biological validation of key regulatory metabolic pathways that contribute to changes of insulin resistance in the context of type 2 diabetes. For this project we are looking to recruit a person interested in tissue crosstalk and effects on metabolic regulation.

This fixed-term employment is expected to last for approximately one year and is offered to cover a leave of absence. The exact duration of the appointment may vary depending on the selected candidate's start date.

Your Mission

You will contribute to a research project aimed at identifying metabolic pathways involved in insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes. Focusing on extracellular vesicle biology and tissue crosstalk, you will perform molecular and cellular experiments, analyze human and experimental samples, and contribute to data analysis and interpretation. As part of a collaborative research team, you will help develop new methodologies and contribute to scientific publications.

Eligibility Requirements

For employment as Research Specialist at Karolinska Institutet, the eligibility requirements stated in the Guidelines for non-teaching positions at Karolinska Institutet are applied in relation to the established profile of employment.

To be eligible for employment as a Research Specialist, in addition to holding a Degree of Doctor, PhD, or having a foreign degree deemed equivalent to a Swedish doctoral degree, the applicant must have demonstrated research expertise as well as have documented postdoctoral research experience.

For this position we are looking for a person with molecular and cell biology experience to complete a project focused on extracellular vesicles. Additionally experience in lipidomic analysis and omic data is a merit.

Assessment Criteria

We are looking for a candidate who meets the following qualifications:

• Doctoral degree in a relevant field.
• Several years of postdoctoral experience in metabolism
• Cell and molecular biology expertise
• Documented expertise in precise isolation and characterization of extracellular vesicles
• Experience from clinical studies and analysis of human samples is considered valuable.
• Additional merits include experience in bioinformatic analysis of large datasets.
• Excellent English communication and writing skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead projects and work independently.
• Strong collaborative skills and a team-oriented mindset.
