The UCL Cancer Institute is one of the world's leading cancer research centres, bringing together scientists and clinicians to advance our understanding of cancer and improve patient outcomes. The successful candidate will join the Professor Sergio Quezada Immune Regulation and Tumour Immunotherapy Group, a dynamic team dedicated to understanding anti-tumour immune responses and developing innovative cancer immunotherapies. As part of the international MATCHMAKERS Cancer Grand Challenges programme, the team is working at the forefront of research to understand and predict how T cells recognise cancer-specific antigens, helping to shape the next generation of immunotherapy and AI-driven precision medicine
We are seeking a highly motivated Research Technician to support the MATCHMAKERS programme by performing laboratory-based research focused on T-cell receptor (TCR) and tumour antigen interactions. You will work with human samples and cell cultures, conduct TCR-antigen screening assays, support molecular biology workflows, and perform flow cytometry-based analyses. This role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to cutting-edge cancer immunotherapy research while gaining experience with advanced experimental techniques in immunology, genomics, and cellular engineering. You will work closely with researchers and technical staff to generate high-quality, reproducible data and help drive scientific discoveries that could improve cancer treatment.
This is a 1year FTC contract.
You will hold a BSc in a relevant biological science discipline and have practical laboratory experience, including mammalian cell culture, aseptic techniques, and handling human tissue samples. You will possess a strong understanding of immunology and cancer immunotherapy, alongside experience in molecular biology and flow cytometry. We are looking for someone who is highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage their workload effectively while maintaining accurate records. Strong communication skills, a collaborative approach, and a willingness to learn new techniques are essential. Experience with T-cell reactivity assays and antigen-specific screening approaches would be particularly advantageous.
As well as the exciting opportunities this role presents we also offer some great benefits some of which are below:
