Expressions of interest are invited for a researcher to work with Jeremy Knox and the Critical Digital Education Research Group at the Department of Education, The University of Oxford. The principal duties of this role are to develop applications for research grants, aligned with the areas of education, artificial intelligence, teaching, and inclusion. The post holder will review and synthesize existing literature, as well as assist in scoping research designs, impact activities, and budgets.
Alongside this, the post holder will manage their own academic research and administrative activities. This involves small scale project management, to coordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines. They will adapt existing and develop new research methodologies and materials, prepare material for research grant applications, reviewing and refining theories, methodologies, and impact activities as appropriate. They will also develop ideas for generating research income and contribute ideas for extended research projects.
Other duties will include collaborating in the preparation of research publications, and book chapters, presenting papers at conferences or public meetings, and acting as a source of information and advice to other members of the group on the scoping of research proposals.
You will hold a relevant PhD/DPhil, together with relevant experience, and possess sufficient specialist knowledge in critical digital education. You will also have the ability to manage own academic research and associated activities, with previous experience of developing research grant applications. Competence in writing research proposals, conducting literature reviews, developing research designs, and scoping impact activities is essential, alongside excellent communication skills and the ability to contribute ideas for new research projects and collaborations.
The post is on a part time basis at 0.4 FTE (two days per week), fixed term until 31 December 2026.
