The Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, in conjunction with the Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior, currently has an opening for a Researcher (junior to mid-level) to join the Adult Division. We are looking for an enthusiastic, resourceful, and dedicated researcher with proven expertise in data science, digital psychiatry, and/or computational psychiatry to study the mechanisms that underlie social dysfunction in psychotic disorders. The successful candidate will be expected to have already established an independent research program and existing collaborations with investigators throughout the university, working on problems relating to social functioning, social isolation, and loneliness in psychosis. A special focus of this position will be the application of innovative research methods to better understand social dysfunction in psychosis, including ecological momentry assessment, social network analysis, machine learning, and passive sensing techniques (e.g., GPS-based data). Successful candidates will also have experience in developing theoretical and computational models of social functioning using emerging methods from digital psychiatry, such as dynamical systems modeling. Commitment to research is required. The position requires a Ph.D. in Psychology, Neuroscience, or a closely related field and demonstrated research excellence in the study of social dysfunction in psychosis. Experience in digital phenotyping, computational modeling, and other advanced statistical methods are highly desirable. A commitment to research and teaching with the express goal of mentoring and advising of trainees from underrepresented and underserved populations is important. A proven track‐record of extramural funding, including support from the National Institutes of Health and the Department of Veteran Affairs, is desirable.
Salary will be consistent with the UCLA Researcher Series. The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 37-B. The salary range for this position is $96,700 – $133,200 annually.
Interested applicants must submit a i) cover letter, ii) curriculum vitae, iii) statement of research and career objectives, and iv) contact information for three potential references to the application portal. For more information, please contact Michael F. Green, PhD at mgreen@ucla.edu.
