Medical Affairs Scientist, Level I or II, Oncology (Hematology)

Reporting to the Medical Affairs Lead Oncology, the Medical Affairs Scientist will provide deep medical/scientific expertise and Medical Affairs leadership to various functional areas within the Oncology team. He/she will provide product(s) and therapeutic area medical expertise, as well as relevant scientific information in response to customer-stated needs. He/she will ensure patient centricity in support of the medical objectives and gathering medical insights to inform future medical strategies. The Medical Affairs Scientist will serve as the primary medical contact for the brand team for Canada and work in partnership with International and Global medical partners as appropriate to provide two-way information flow. He/she will ensure connectivity between the brand team and field medical colleagues, aligned with the medical plan, customer and brand strategies. He/she adheres to and applies the principles of medical professionalism in day-to-day activities by maintaining a focus on customers and patients, integrity, accountability and continuous learning.

All activities will be conducted in compliance with Pfizer Policies and Procedures, International Conference on Harmonization (ICH), Innovative Medicines Canada Code of Ethical Practices (IMC Code), and local regulatory requirements; acts ethically and maintains Pfizer's corporate integrity; adheres to and champions Medical Professionalism standards.

Core responsibilities:

• Maintains product/portfolio and therapeutic areas expertise
• Provides medical leadership and scientific expertise to the brand's strategic direction
• Responsible for development of medical operating plan and execution of the medical strategies and tactics; ensures that medical tactics are consistent with brand strategies
• Work in close collaboration with the cross-functional colleagues
• Serves as a medical reviewer (as applicable) of promotional material and other material with medical/scientific content
• Support Access & Regulatory Affairs in the preparation of market access and regulatory submissions
• Provides medical input into planning and execution of national advisory board meetings and supports regional consultation meetings as required
• Develop and maintain relationships with key Canadian clinical and scientific experts through in-depth scientific discussions to identify areas of shared scientific interest, facilitate collaboration, and gain insights to inform medical strategies
• In collaboration with Field Medical Affairs Scientists, identifies opportunities for data generation and defines publication strategy; leads/facilitates local publication development
• In collaboration with Field Medical Affairs Scientists and clinical operations, leverages his/her in-depth knowledge of Canada's clinical research capabilities to best support global development programs and maximize Pfizer clinical research in Canada; contributes to identification of investigators for participation in clinical trials

The ideal candidate will meet the following requirements:

• Doctorate in Health Sciences (MD, PharmD, PhD)
• Experience (3-5 years minimum) in Medical Affairs, clinical and/or health sciences research (preferably in pharmaceutical industry)
• Oncology experience and hematology expertise preferred
• Understanding of clinical development process
• Solid business acumen including knowledge of the Canadian health care systems, patient management, formulary drug inclusion, understanding of health economics and its impact on access for product implementation
• Strong analytical skills and ability to critically evaluate clinical studies whether a protocol or a publication
• Proven strategic thinking skills and ability to interpret insights and implement complex information and strategic directions
• Ability to work under pressure, prioritize and meet tight deadlines

• Bilingualism (French and English): An advanced level of English, both spoken and written, is required to enable the individual to collaborate effectively with colleagues and partners located elsewhere in Canada and internationally daily as part of their responsibilities.

The annual base salary for the Level I ranges from 92,100.00 CAD to 153,500.00 CAD.

The annual base salary for the Level II level ranges from 117,000.00 to 195,000.00 CAD

The salary range provided applies to Canada only and does not apply to any other locations outside of Canada. Note: Grade level will be determined upon hire and will be based on relevant and/or industry experience.
