Scientist – Automation Lab Operations

Shift: Full-Time; Monday – Friday; 8am-5pm EST

ONSITE:

This is a fully onsite role based at our customer's site in (Boston, MA). We welcome applicants from all locations within the US.

Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check, which includes a drug screening.

Key responsibilities:

• The Automation Lab Operations is a hands-on technical contributor within the High Throughput Automation team. This role emphasizes maintaining and ensuring the quality control (QC) of existing instrumentation, particularly liquid handling systems, to support effective laboratory operations. The Lab Ops will focus on maintenance and troubleshooting, and will work closely with users to establish and test effective instrument protocols to meet their needs.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in lab sciences such as Chemistry, Biochemistry, Material Science, Immunology, Biology, Molecular Biology or similar
• Scientist: Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 2+ years')
• OR Masters degree

In some cases, an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Instrument QC and Maintenance

• Develop and implement maintenance and QC processes for critical liquid handling instruments including CombinL, Biotek, Echo, Hamilton, and Felix
• Maintain a centralized repository for QC and maintenance protocols, train end-users, and communicate instrument status updates.
• Coordinate troubleshooting efforts with internal teams and external vendors to restore instrument performance.

Automation Laboratory Operations Support

• Work with partners to track and communicate instrument downtime.
• Maintain mapped locations of instruments and PCs to support instrumentation, IT, and facilities groups.

Protocol Development and Technical Support

• Provide first-line technical support for automated protocols and instrumentation.
• Assist with onboarding and training of scientific end users on existing systems and workflows.
• Work with users to adapt existing protocols or build new workflows to meet their specific needs

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in Massachusetts is $35.00–$43.00.
