The Scientist III, Laboratory Automation R&D, develops next-generation sample preparation workflows and enables new product innovations across Thermo Fisher's genomics and molecular biology portfolio. This role combines expertise in laboratory technologies and workflow development with scientific problem solving, providing the opportunity to work closely with multidisciplinary teams and external partners to develop novel sample preparation solutions that address emerging customer needs.
The successful candidate will bring strong experience with liquid handling systems and workflow programming while also demonstrating curiosity, creativity, and a passion for scientific innovation. Success in this role requires the ability to move seamlessly between hands-on wet-lab experimentation and technology development, using appropriate procedures to evaluate new concepts, generate feasibility data, and optimize sample preparation chemistries before translating them into robust, scalable solutions.
This position is embedded within a product development organization and requires flexibility to support a broad range of R&D activities based on business priorities. Successful candidates will be comfortable shifting between technology development, workflow innovation, scientific investigations, and product development activities as portfolio needs evolve. This role is focused on advancing new technologies and workflow capabilities rather than supporting routine testing, production operations, or high-throughput service activities.
