The RIKEN Center for Advanced Intelligence Project (AIP) is a leading international hub for state-of-the-art AI research. Centered around three core research groups, the Mathematical Intelligence Group, the Domain Intelligence Group, and the Physical Intelligence Group, AIP is dedicated to establishing the mathematical foundations of trustworthy AI, advancing AI technologies integrated with diverse scientific domains, and developing embodied intelligence for the real world.
In the Imperfect Information Learning Team, we develop novel algorithms that enable accurate learning from imperfect information across a wide range of machine learning paradigms, including supervised, unsupervised, and reinforcement learning, and investigate their theoretical properties. These methods have been broadly deployed in real-world applications, spanning fundamental science, business, and the construction of foundation models.

Machine learning data has been actively investigated and its effectiveness has been demonstrated. However, in many application domains, it is difficult or even it is not possible to collect a large amount of labeled data. In the Imperfect Information Learning Team, for various machine learning tasks including supervised learning, unsupervised learning, and reinforcement learning, we develop novel algorithms that allow accurate and robust learning from imperfect information. We also elucidate their theoretical properties and apply them to various real-world applications. The successful candidate is expected to develop learning algorithms from imperfect information, analyze theoretical properties, and perform experiments individually. Supervising interns and part-time students as well as supporting industry projects and academic event organization are also expected.
