The Robot Learning Team, Physical Intelligence Group RIKEN Center for Advanced Intelligence Project (Team Director: Takayuki Osa) is seeking a Research Scientist or a Postdoctoral Researcher. The RIKEN Center for Advanced Intelligence Project (AIP) is a leading international hub for state-of-the-art AI research. The Robot Learning Team focuses on developing algorithms and methodologies, including reinforcement learning and imitation learning, to enable robotic agents to learn skills for performing tasks in physical environments.
The candidate will work on problems at the intersection of reinforcement learning, imitation learning, robotics and motion planning. The candidate is expected to carry out research and publish their findings in top robotics and machine-learning conferences, and help in the management of the group, as well as supervision of internship students and technical staffs. The position is meant to further the careers of early-career researchers who wish to pursue a career in academia.
The job description may be changed during the contract period or upon contract renewal to the extent described above.
Qualifications include a Ph.D. or expectation to receive a Ph.D. before the date of employment in robotics, machine learning, computer science, statistics or a related field. Candidates should have a record of publications in leading machine learning conferences or journals, or in robotics conferences or journals. Candidates should be proactive, collaborative, and flexible, with the ability to adapt to changing situations as needed. Candidates should possess strong communication skills and be able to work effectively and collaboratively with stakeholders both within and outside the laboratory.
Work location is RIKEN Tokyo Campus (1-4-1 Nihonbashi, Chuo-ku, Tokyo). RIKEN may order the employee to change work locations, if necessary.
Salary will be an annual salary based on experience, ability, and performance, and will consist of a base salary and a variable salary. The variable salary will be determined each fiscal year based on experience, ability, and performance. Discretionary work, commuting and housing allowances will be provided. Social insurance will be applied.
