Quantum Information Theory Research Team (tentative name) Fundamental Quantum Science Program, TRIP Headquarters
RIKEN's research is based on comprehensiveness and interdisciplinarity, and with free thinking as its basic philosophy, RIKEN promotes research that goes beyond the boundaries of conventional research fields, while at the same time responding to the needs of society from a strategic perspective.
Fundamental Quantum Science Program focuses on four key areas—basic physics and chemistry, mathematics, quantum information, and nonequilibrium science—returning to the foundations of quantum science and advancing research from a mid- to long-term perspective.
Quantum information theory, which reinterprets quantum theory from the standpoint of information theory, is a foundational research field for the various activities of this program. It is expected to serve as a unifying thread connecting the research on quantum phenomena at various levels conducted within this program.
This call for proposals seeks research on, e.g., (a) new quantum algorithms, (b) quantum resource theory, (c) quantum and classical cryptography, (d) information-theoretic interpretations of quantum mechanics and quantum field theory, and (d) quantum information and geometry, among others that drive fundamental quantum theory over the medium to long term, rather than applied research.
RIKEN invites applications for the position of Team Director (Principal Investigator) to serve in a leadership position in the research area described above. The successful candidate will be responsible for directing research projects from a medium-to-long-term perspective.
Team Director (Principal Investigator): 1 position
