We are currently seeking a synthetic organic chemist for the R&D (Research & Development) Chemistry group. In this position, they will play an important role in supporting Regeneron small molecule antibody-conjugate drug discovery capabilities, providing an important link with the company's existing expertise in biologics and novel genetic medicines. The candidate will enable in-house laboratory-based synthetic chemistry activities towards the discovery and generation of novel small-molecule payloads and linkers for antibody-drug conjugate therapeutics across research areas of oncology, metabolic disease/obesity, infectious diseases, immunology and inflammation, neuroscience, and ophthalmology. Cultural fit with the Regeneron chemistry and cross-functional teams is a priority. The R&D Chemistry team is composed of synthetic organic, medicinal chemistry and bioconjugation scientists that work in a highly collaborative environment with other technology, biology and therapeutic area groups. Successful candidates will have small-molecule synthetic organic background and experience with the retrosynthetic analysis, synthetic route design, and hands-on execution of multistep synthetic protocols including compound isolation and characterization. A firm understanding of modern organic synthesis strategies and techniques and the ability to work independently while deploying them in a fit-for-purpose efficient approach to biologically active targets of interest will be the key. Ability to interpret spectroscopic data in the assignment/ confirmation of small molecule structures is required. Knowledge of the latest synthetic methods utilized in the antibody-conjugate linker generation is a plus.
