An experienced Senior Research Fellow is required for projects developing the next generation of therapies for children with blood and immune disorders, including CAR T cells for leukaemia. The postholder will design, generate and investigate strategies to improve CAR T cell and haematopoietic stem cell therapies in pre-clinical studies. They will also require experience in human cell engineering using techniques such as RNA-guided editing and lentiviral transduction. There will be close working with university and hospital partners, and supervision of junior staff and students. Team working, aptitude and excellent communication and record keeping skills will be essential. The postholder will have skills for investigating genome editing of T cells/haematopoietic stem cells, high throughput and single cell analysis and humanised models. This is an exciting opportunity in a rapidly emerging area of translational medicine. The post is funded by GOSHCC and will be appointed for 12 months in the first instance with scope for extension.
The successful candidate is expected to have the following; Expertise in human T cell and/or stem cell handling, culture, genome editing, flow cytometry, and functional assays. Skills for humanised models of adoptive therapy and stem cell engraftment. Experience in the design and testing of genome editing tools (CRISPR/Cas, base and prime editing) and associated sequencing and bioinformatics. Experience with NGS, WGS and single-cell RNA analysis (scRNA). Ability to handle and interpret sequencing and single-cell datasets. Established record of PhD supervision to completion.
