Senior Scientist Genomic Medicine BioAnalytics Characterization

We are seeking a motivated Senior Scientist to join our BioAnalytics Characterization group in the Genomic Medicine Unit within Sanofi. Candidates with no previous experience in the field of genomic medicine are still encouraged to apply – we are looking primarily for someone with strong mass spectrometry characterization experience and are committed to bridging any knowledge gaps through dedicated onboarding and training. The BioAnalytics Characterization group uses advanced analytical techniques for in-depth structural and functional characterization of gene therapy products in support of drug development, from pre-candidate selection through commercialization.

Main responsibilities:

• Develop and implement advanced characterization strategies for gene therapy candidates, including viral vectors and nonviral particles
• Utilize a robust and sensitive LC-MS platform to profile HCP clearance throughout purification process and quantitatively monitor impurities of concern to support CMC product development
• Establish HCP impurity method detection limits and precision, and oversee transfer and comparability to automated sample preparation methods within facility
• Utilize LC-MS proteomics platform in profiling differential protein expression in cell lysates to support Cell Culture Process Development
• Develop LC-MS characterization methods of nonviral particles including RNA impurity determination and oligonucleotide mapping
• Collaborate cross functionally and support process/formulation development through comprehensive LC-MS characterization (peptide mapping, HCP analysis, and oligonucleotide analysis)
• Establish new end-to-end automated data workflows (e.g. from data upload and application specific data processing to reporting in ELN)
• Author technical documentation including reports, protocols, and regulatory filings (IND/IMPD/BLA)
• Contribute to scientific literature and present at internal and external conferences

About You:

Education:

• Ph.D. in Biochemistry or Chemistry-life science related field, OR
• M.S. with 4+ years of industry experience

Experience & Technical Skills:

• Extensive LC-MS experience in protein characterization, identification and protein quantitation
• Proficiency with Thermo and/or AbSciex instruments and at least one peptide mapping/proteomics software such as Spectronaut, Genedata Expressionist, Protein Metrics, Skyline, or Proteome Discoverer
• Demonstrated success implementing novel analytical technologies

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with automation and AI-driven analytical workflows is highly desirable.

The salary range for this position is: $100,500.00 – $145,166.66
