Your next career opportunity You will provide specialist technical fabrication and training across dynamic workshops and makerspaces in FEIT. You will collaborate with academics and students to translate concepts into safe, high-quality rigs and prototypes.

What you will deliver:

• Provide specialist technical advice, design input, and fabrication services that enable high-quality teaching, research, and operational projects.
• Engage directly with students and academics, supporting practical learning activities and research through tailored technical guidance.
• Deliver and assess hands-on, competency-based training in safe use of tools, machinery, and makerspace processes.
• Embed Safety in Design principles, ensuring all bespoke rigs and fabricated equipment meet compliance and safety obligations.
• Operate, maintain, and service workshop machinery and equipment, keeping spaces reliable, well-documented, and ready for user projects.

You may be a great fit if you:

• Hold a relevant degree or trade qualification, or equivalent experience supporting technical teaching or research facilities.
• Bring experience working in scientific or industrial laboratory, workshop, or R&D environments with complex equipment and processes.
• Demonstrate strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach when supporting diverse students, staff, and stakeholders.
• Possess trade-based skills in areas such as machining, fabrication, mechatronics, electronics, electrical, or digital fabrication.
• Apply advanced capabilities in CAD, CADCAM, robotics, embedded systems, plumbing, automation, or related technical specialisations.
• Hold or be willing to obtain a valid Working with Children Check and relevant high-risk work licenses.

The Workshop, Makerspaces and Engagement group enables safe, high-quality, hands-on learning, teaching, and research across technical spaces.
