The Villeda lab is seeking a Junior/Assistant/Associate/Full Specialist to join our group and contribute to new and ongoing projects. The responsibilities of the position include use of animal model systems, neuroanatomical analysis of the aging brain, microscopy imaging, animal surgical techniques, cell culture techniques, molecular and cell biological techniques, and cognitive behavioral testing in animals, as well as designing experiments, leading independent projects, developing new ideas, gaining familiarity with the literature. The candidate will also be responsible for managing day-to-day lab operations and management, including oversight of the aging colony mouse husbandry, maintenance of laboratory organization, supply handling, inventory management and performing general lab duties, and creating a positive and effective lab culture.

Required Qualifications

• Junior Specialist – Baccalaureate degree (or equivalent degree) or at least four years of research experience
• Assistant Specialist- Master's degree (or equivalent degree) or a baccalaureate degree with three or more years of research experience
• Associate Specialist – Master's degree (or equivalent degree) or five to ten years of relevant experience
• Full Specialist – terminal degree (or equivalent degree) or ten or more years of relevant experience
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written)
• Willingness and ability to learn new methods and skills for changing research priorities.
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a research team.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, coordinate work tasks with others, and meet multiple deadlines
• Candidates must meet the required qualifications at the time of appointment.
