You will have responsibility for ensuring appropriate and high standards of laboratory animal care and medicine for the animal colonies at the Upper Providence site. Primary responsibility for observations, diagnostics and treatments to animal colonies housed at UP site through directives of the LASG veterinarians. Provides study support for development of animal models and investigator research (e.g. anesthetic monitoring, surgical preparation, dosing, sampling). Responsible for documentation of animal histories and regulatory compliance of animal-related studies for various agencies (e.g. USDA, FDA). Primary responsibility for on-site veterinary care during weekends and holidays. Provides training and consultation to LASG staff, investigators and others in areas of expertise. Assists in management and behavioral assessment of the animal colonies.

We are seeking professionals with the following required skills and qualifications to help us achieve our goals:
Bachelor's degree in field related to animal science or veterinary medicine, or experience working in the field of veterinary medicine
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
Certified Veterinary Technician
Good clinical veterinary skills
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Good organizational and teamwork skills
Experience in a research setting or a pharmaceutical company
Knowledge of regulations relevant to laboratory animals
Proficient at basic computer skills relevant to the job (e.g. computer record entries, Excel, Word).
Proficient at performing basic clinical pathology and microbiology procedures, as needed.
