Lund University was founded in 1666 and is repeatedly ranked among the world's top universities. The University has around 46,000 students and 8,500 staff based in Lund, Helsingborg, and Malmö. We are united in our efforts to understand, explain, and improve our world and the human condition.
At the Department of Chemistry, research is conducted in all core areas of chemistry. Important research areas that make use of NMR include, among others, organic chemistry, inorganic coordination chemistry, structure-based drug design, polymer chemistry, physical chemistry studies of soft materials and phase transitions, structural biology, and protein conformational dynamics, aggregation, and amyloid formation.
Since 2021, Lund University has invested significant resources in the development of a purpose-built NMR centre located at the Department of Chemistry (KILU). The NMR centre is equipped with three instruments: an 800 MHz Bruker Avance NEO with 4 channels and a 5 mm TCI Z-gradient CryoProbe 1H/13C/15N/2H; a 600 MHz Bruker Avance NEO with 4 channels and a 5 mm QCI(P) Z-gradient CryoProbe 1H-19F/13C/15N/31P; and an older 500 MHz Varian/Agilent VNMRS instrument with 4 channels and several probes. A full-time research engineer (facility manager) is already responsible for servicing the NMR centre.
