Teaching Associate Professor in Veterinary Anatomy and Pathology

The Department of Veterinary and Animal Science at the University of Copenhagen invites applications for a full-time Teaching Associate Professor position in Veterinary Anatomy and Pathology, starting 1 December 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is permanent.

The position focuses on planning, coordinating, and delivering teaching in the anatomy (mainly) and pathology components of the veterinary curriculum (Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine), as well as other relevant courses. Supervision of bachelor's and master's theses is also part of the teaching responsibilities. In addition, the applicant is expected to serve as course responsible and participate in course development and examinations. The position does not require research as PI (principal investigator), but the applicant is encouraged to engage in and assist with relevant research projects within the department.

The Department of Veterinary and Animal Science encompasses strong, internationally recognized research areas in veterinary science. Our Vet School is internationally recognized (EAEVE accreditation). We deliver the research and research-based teaching needed for veterinary education, including work on challenges arising from interactions between animals and humans. Our research contributes to solving real societal challenges and anchors evidence-based, sustainable growth in our society.

The teaching associate professor will be responsible for the practical and theoretical teaching of veterinary students in veterinary anatomy and pathology but may also contribute to other courses. The teaching associate professor is expected to function as course responsible and interact with and assist the faculty in developing additional teaching strategies and implementing technology-driven teaching solutions.

In considering applications for the position, the main emphasis will be on the applicant´s ability to document a high level of teaching experience in veterinary anatomy and/or pathology. The teaching associate professor must have completed the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen assistant professor pedagogical degree (“universitetspædagogikum”).

Required qualifications:

1. The applicant must hold a DVM with the license to practice in Denmark.
2. The applicant must speak and write a Scandinavian language (Danish, Norwegian or Swedish).
3. Documented teaching qualifications of veterinary students within veterinary anatomy or pathology.
4. Experience and skills in course planning and course execution.
5. Completion of the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen assistant professor pedagogical degree (“universitetspædagogikum”) or similar is required.

The teaching associate professor must also be enterprising and possess good interpersonal skills.

The place of employment is the Department of Veterinary and Animal Science at the University of Copenhagen in Frederiksberg.

Salary and other terms and conditions of appointment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant professional organizations. The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities.
