The Department of Information Technology holds a leading position in both research and education at all levels. We are currently Uppsala University's third largest department, have around 350 employees, including 120 teachers and 120 PhD students. The subject area of the employment is in Human-Machine Interaction, which is an interdisciplinary subject and focuses on the development and evaluation of methods and tools for constructing computer-based artifacts that support people, organizations and society to achieve their goals. Understanding and formulation of theories on the basic conditions of the interaction process are necessary for the design of successful IT systems. Artificial Intelligence and interaction with advanced technology demand new knowledge and emphasize the need for integrating ethical aspects in the development of computerized artifacts.

Duties:

• Teaching and administration. Teaching duties include course responsibility and course administration. The courses for which we are looking for a time-limited lecturer is:
• 1MD016 Human-Computer Interaction (distance, period 1, English)
• 1MD016 Human-Computer Interaction (on-site, period 2, English)
• Follow developments within the subject area and the development of society in general that is important for the work at the university.

Qualifications Required:

• Higher-education degree including subject specialization (in-depth study of a subject) in Computer Science, Human-machine Interaction or Information Technology.
• Teaching expertise. It is necessary that the pedagogical skills and subject specialization are relevant to the content of the employment and the tasks that will be included in the employment.
• Applicants also must have completed teacher training of relevance to operations at the University, or have acquired the equivalent knowledge.
• Documented ability to teach in English is a requirement unless special reasons prevail.
• Personal capabilities necessary to carry out fully the duties of the appointment.

The ranking of eligible applicants will be based primarily on subject specialization and teaching expertise of which weight will be primarily given to teaching expertise.

In an overall assessment of the applicant's qualifications, parental leave, part-time work relating to care of children, union assignments, military service, or the like are to be regarded as work experience.

About the employment:

The employment is a temporary position until 31 January 2027. Scope of employment 65%. Starting date 10 August 2026 or as agreed. Placement: Uppsala.
