The Institute of Forest Ecology, Slovak Academy of Sciences (IFE SAS) in Zvolen, Slovakia, invites applications for a fully funded four-year postdoctoral position in forest genomics.
The research focuses on the genomic basis of resistance, adaptation and resilience of forest trees to biotic and environmental stressors, primarily in Norway spruce (Picea abies). Genomic analyses will include GWAS, population and landscape genomics, genotype–environment associations and selection analyses, integrated with phenotypic, ecological and environmental data.
The successful candidate will take substantial scientific responsibility for genomic analyses, development of research questions, interpretation of results and preparation of high-quality scientific publications within an interdisciplinary project combining forest genomics, evolutionary ecology and forest disturbance ecology.
Experience with forest trees, conifers, or plant responses to biotic and abiotic stress is highly desirable. Participation in field sampling in mountainous forest terrain is expected; experience sampling mature forest trees would be an advantage.
The position benefits from the continuing RESDiNET network, connecting IFE SAS with the Finnish Geospatial Research Institute, University of Eastern Finland and Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, and providing opportunities for interdisciplinary international collaboration.
