The Lee Lab, a laboratory of Systems Pharmacology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, is looking to hire a Postdoctoral Fellow. Research topics are flexible, but should be within the lab’s interests, which include:
· understanding mechanisms of drug action and mechanisms of drug resistance
· understanding mechanisms of regulated cell death
· the design of effective combination drug therapies
We have several exciting new projects, including the use of new functional genomics strategies that we recently developed to identify genes that regulate cell death in different contexts. We are also interested in developing new projects with postdocs based on shared interests. Postdocs in our group will have the opportunity to mentor undergraduate and graduate students, TA classes (if interested), and collaborate, both with other academic labs and with biotech and pharmaceutical companies within the greater Boston area. Our prior postdocs have published well and found excellent jobs, each within three years of starting! Postdocs in our lab receive full benefits and are paid at the top of the NIH maximum scale.
· PhD in a biological/biomedical science (cell biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, etc.) or computational science (biomedical engineering, bioinformatics, statistics, etc.)
· An interest in areas related to the lab’s work (understanding how normal and/or cancer cells control life/death decisions, or development of anti-cancer therapies).
The Lee Lab develops/uses new experimental approaches and new computational methods. Prior experience in either experimental or computational biology would be beneficial, but expertise in both disciplines is not required. We are excited to help scientists to develop new skills and have had good success cross training scientists in both directions (experimental to computational and vice versa).
The Lee Lab is located within the Program in Systems Biology at UMass Med School, in Worcester, MA. We are a mid-sized lab (generally 6-8 people) and strive to create a vibrant and exciting research environment that is welcoming to all people.
