Multiple Openings: Postdoctoral Fellow and Research Technician Full-time NEW

The laboratory of Dr. Chen at the University of Iowa is seeking highly motivated individuals to join an NIH-funded research program investigating the molecular mechanisms linking obesity, diabetes, and breast cancer. We are recruiting one Postdoctoral Fellow and one Research Technician to participate in cutting-edge research using molecular, cellular, biochemical, and animal models.

Research Program

Our laboratory investigates the signaling pathways that regulate obesity and diabetes development and breast cancer progression. Current projects employ molecular and biochemical approaches in cultured cells, xenograft models, and genetically engineered mouse models to identify novel mechanisms and therapeutic targets.

Available Positions

Postdoctoral Fellow

The successful candidate will lead independent research projects while working collaboratively with laboratory members.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in molecular biology, biochemistry, cancer biology, pharmacology, or a related biomedical discipline.
• Strong background in molecular biology, biochemistry, and cell signaling.
• Experience with mammalian cell culture and molecular biology techniques.
• Experience with mouse models is preferred.
• Strong publication record and excellent references.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid authorization to work in the United States.

Research Technician

The Research Technician will assist with laboratory research and daily laboratory operations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain genetically engineered mouse colonies, including breeding, weaning, genotyping, and electronic record keeping.
• Perform laboratory maintenance and prepare reagents and stock solutions.
• Conduct experiments using molecular, cellular, and biochemical techniques in cultured cells, mouse tissues, and animal models.
• Perform molecular cloning and generate adenoviral and lentiviral vectors.
• Assist postdoctoral fellows with animal experiments and laboratory research.
• Maintain accurate laboratory notebooks and experimental records.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or a related biomedical science.
• Previous hands-on experience in a biomedical research laboratory.
• Experience working with laboratory animals is preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Compensation

• Postdoctoral Fellow: Salary will be commensurate with experience and will follow the NIH NRSA postdoctoral stipend scale, consistent with University of Iowa policies.
• Research Technician: Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, in accordance with University of Iowa compensation guidelines.
