A NIH-funded postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Tammy Kielian in the Department of Pathology and Microbiology, University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. The candidate will direct independent projects related to the role of innate and adaptive immunity to Staphylococcus aureus biofilm using mouse infection models as well as translational research with clinical specimens from patients with biofilm infections. The laboratory utilizes numerous tools to explore host immune-biofilm crosstalk, including single cell RNA-seq, epigenetic platforms, and transposon sequencing.
UNMC has a vibrant research and medical community within the growing and affordable city of Omaha, Nebraska. The Department of Pathology and Microbiology has over 60 faculty members, nearly 100 graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and residents working in modern, well-equipped labs with state-of-the-art facilities. The Staphylococcal Research Group at UNMC (https://www.unmc.edu/pathology/csr/) offers a collaborative multi-disciplinary environment for the study of staphylococcal infections.
The successful candidate should possess a PhD in immunology or a related immunology-intensive background and have excellent written and oral communication skills. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
