Applications Open for FAPESP Postdoctoral Fellowship: Study on Type VI Secretion System in Chromobacterium violaceum
We invite applications for a FAPESP Postdoctoral Fellowship to conduct the project titled “Type VI Secretion System of Chromobacterium violaceum: Study of Regulation and Effectors Acting on the Cell Wall”, linked to a JP2 FAPESP grant, under the supervision of Prof. José Freire da Silva Neto, Faculdade de Medicina de Ribeirão Preto, Universidade de São Paulo, Ribeirão Preto, SP, Brazil.
Project Overview: This project will focus on studying the Type VI Secretion System (T6SS) in Chromobacterium violaceum, with an emphasis on:
- Investigating the regulation of the T6SS at transcriptional and post-translational levels.
- Examining whether the T6SS is involved in iron uptake in violaceum.
- Characterizing three T6SS effectors that potentially kill competitor bacteria by targeting the cell wall.
Required Qualifications:
- A background in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, or Biochemistry.
- Experience with Molecular Biology and Bacterial Genetics techniques, preferably demonstrated through published research.

Position Details:
- Open to both Brazilian and international applicants.
- The selected candidate will receive a monthly FAPESP Postdoctoral Fellowship of R$ 12,570.00, plus a technical reserve of 10% of the annual fellowship for research-related expenses.
