Project: The Challenge of Veterinary Drug Use in Fish Farming within the One Health Context: Assessment of Efficacy, Safety, and Risk Analysis.
Research Areas: Micro- and Nanoencapsulation, Biomaterials, Controlled Release, Antimicrobial Resistance Mitigation, and Aquaculture.
Workplace: School of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Ribeirão Preto, University of São Paulo – FCFRP/USP, Ribeirão Preto, Brazil.
Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Wanderley Pereira de Oliveira – LAPROFAR-FCFRP/USP.
Duration: Eight months, with the possibility of extension.
Thematic Project: FAPESP Grant 2021/08152-0, coordinated by Prof. Dr. Jonas Augusto R. Paschoal.
Activities and responsibilities: The selected researcher will develop and optimize biocompatible micro- and nanosystems for the controlled delivery of antimicrobial agents in aquaculture. Activities will include physicochemical characterization, evaluation of antimicrobial activity and release profiles, development of methods for incorporating the systems into fish feed, data analysis, and preparation of scientific publications and technical reports. The researcher will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and comply with FAPESP regulations, including full-time dedication to the project.
Mandatory requirements: PhD obtained within the past seven years in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmacy, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Materials Science, or a related field; demonstrated experience in micro- or nanoencapsulation, controlled-release systems, and physicochemical characterization; experience in experimental design, data analysis, and scientific writing in English.
Desirable qualifications: Experience with antimicrobial assays, biological characterization, lipid, polymeric, or hydrocolloid systems, and incorporation of active compounds into animal feed. Experience with HPLC-MS/MS, GC-MS, UV-Vis, FTIR, DSC, particle-size analysis, or zeta-potential measurement will be considered an advantage. Knowledge of aquaculture, veterinary drugs, and Portuguese is desirable.
Application: Applicants must submit a cover letter describing their motivation and relevant experience; an updated Lattes CV or a detailed CV with an ORCID link for international applicants; two letters of recommendation; graduate academic transcripts; and proof of PhD completion.
